Sweet Child O'Mine

This blue-eyed beauty is not my child, I haven't been blessed with motherhood yet, she is my best friend's little girl, named Marie. She is about 8 months old and her parents are entirely subjugated by this tiny pinkish person who speaks a very colorful language :" La-di-da, bri-bi-ba, bi-bi-pli" are just a few of her most impressing assertions so far, and nobody can contradict her :).

About 20 years ago, me and Marie's mom,  we were (metaphorically) pulling each other's pigtails considering the fact that we shared the same desk for four years in high school. In spite of life's unexpected turn of events, we somehow managed to maintain a magical connection for 20 years now. I have to be honest and confess that I am not a huge baby lover. I cannot stand crying babies in restaurants, supermarkets or other public places where they shouldn't normally be.
I can't stand that kind of parents who indulge every whim of their baby and eventually turn him/her into a spoiled brat. But Marie changed my entire perspective. She proved me that a baby can be a delight.
She is a good child, she hasn't cried once in 7 hours (that's the length of my yesterday's visit) and she showed no distress when her mom left her with yours truly in order to finish preparing her food in the kitchen.
She most adorably kept on babbling her favorite dialect, while playing with Mister Duck and Misses Sheep. So yes, I can say that yesterday, Marie taught me a lesson...about more grace and less prejudice and I wanted to thank her for that.

Hello Petronela:
What an adorable looking baby. Surely, she would melt anyone's heart!

As you say, babies in public places can be a source of intense irritation but, in our view, it all comes down to the quality of parenting. Clearly, your friend's child is not only loved but also cared for appropriately and this does shine through. Not only does this make for a happy and contented baby but it will surely be a sound foundation for Life.

My sweet girl, thank you for sharing this with us!
Although I have my own little angel, Marie managed to bring tears to my eyes with her perfectly innocent look, gorgeous eyes and such good behavior.
I had the same feelings towards babies before I became a mother and I thought I'd never change but here I am, a totally different person.

Next time you see Marie, please send her my ba-ba, ga-ga, da-da, she will understand my weird regards :)

Sweet kisses

It was only very recently that a baby (my cousin's baby) actually WANTED me to carry her. She took one look at me, pointed at me and then put both hands up asking me to carry her. Boy, was I surprised! She's a cute little baby, and doesn't cry either. But no, it didn't make me want to be a mommy to a human kid. :p I'll just enjoy being an auntie.

I think "How fortunate you are to have had a friendship last as long as it has," I miss my friendship with my most beloved BFF From my school days... I lost contact after high school and haven't had much luck in locating her.. And maybe the "bitchy" me, kinda doesn't want to locate her either.

The magick though is that there sitting pictured on you blog as beautiful as a little being can be, and "auntie can take her spoil her rotten then give her back to Mommy... What can be better than that?

Lessons? Maybe! Inspiration and Love most definitely!!
