In love with a hobbit

Oh yes, I am definitely in love with Peter Jackson's recent masterpiece "The Hobbit - an unexpected journey". I've been waiting for this movie for over a year, somehow anticipating the grandeur of Tolkien's adaptation. I have the feeling that Peter Jackson understands our need of fantasy and he always manages to put it on the screen so skillfully and so believably.
The fist part of the film is a little bit, just a little bit too monotonous, with a few portions of dialogue that seem out of place, even useless. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you'll be surprised to discover that The Hobbit has another pace, maybe it lacks a bit when it comes to the versatility of the characters. But the 3D special effects do take your breath away to the point where you grab hold of the armchair. I was surely enchanted by my favorite elf in the world, Galadriel, whom the amazing Cate Blanchet managed to embody with such a surreal grace. Don't waste your time, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins is waiting !

Almost you tempt me. Almost. Years ago I made a decision not to see movies made from books I love, as they never, ever match the images in my mind.

Hmmm, interesting. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in the movie, and lying even more if I said I wasn't a bit eager to see it. Still, I wonder if it's even remotely capable of meeting the quality/expectations of the book.

...On the other hand, I haven't read the book in years, so I'm more likely to let a few things slide.

Well, I'll probably go see it with my brother and a friend sometime soon. In any case, thanks for the heads-up.

Petronela, I can't wait to see it! It sounds great! Even if it seems a little repetitive or slow, at first, it has to be a million times better than most of the movies that were put out this year. I'm a big "Lord of the Rings" fan, too, so I can see why you're into them.

In case I don't get a chance to say it... Happy Holidays to you and yours. Take care.

Hey this looks quite interesting. I enjoyed all the Lord of the Rings movies so I will probably like this one too.

Saw it on Sunday. Loved it too. Very true to the book for the most part, with some extra bits thrown in that don't seem too out of place.

I know some folks have reservations about movies from books, but I felt LOTR was - if not how I imagined it, then maybe how I should have imagined it. The Hobbit manages to keep up with expectations there.

I can no longer sit in a theatre for that long so I shall wait for it to come out on dvd. But 2 friends saw it and said the first hour was exposition and then grabbed hold of you and didn't let go. Can't wait!

I'm glad you enjoyed this film. I can't wait to see the movie and read the book (which is currently next to my bed)! I've never read any of Tolkien's books but I know I'll appreciate the movies more once I delve into the books. Happy Holidays Beautiful Lady! xoxo!

Okay, I'm going to say something potentially detrimental to you & your readers: I'm not a Lord of the Rings fan & have never watched movie all the way through or any others. Gasp! Lol. And, hold onto your seat, I've never heard of the hobbit book. *hanging head in shame*

The movie does sound interesting and I like fairytales and fantasies! I'll have to check out out...anything that soothes creativity and imagination!
